The Laser Treatment Process Involved
The Rejuvenation Center at Ojas Med Spa can successfully cure, through state of the art medical and laser treatments, various skin problems occurring because of pollution and aging. When you visit the spa, our team of expert clinicians will ask you to fill out a form detailing your medical history. Through a consultative approach, an appropriate treatment schedule is advised followed by the results achievable through the treatment. A “spot test” will ensure that the treatments are using the most effective power level, wavelength spectra, pulse width or energy density / influence for your specific skin type and tone, as well as the lesion size, condition and location to be treated.
Methods of Laser Treatment
At Ojas Med Spa, which is located in scenic South Florida, there are two primary methods to correct skin damage:
- NannoLight Intense Pulsed Light
- Modified Erbium Laser
The NannoLight Intense Pulsed Light is a relatively painless method and is safe for the skin. Intense pulsed lights are used to treat specific pigmented areas on the skin (also known as chromospheres). These are responsible for the discolored and patchiness of the skin. Compared to conventional laser treatment, NannoLight is much faster and possesses many different filters to help fluctuate light intensities. The sapphire tip is chilled to aid in quick skin cooling. The Rejuvenation Center at Ojas Med Spa has a safe alternative to tackle those problem pigmented areas.
In the Modified Erbium Laser technique, a laser peel is offered, which can cause mild, moderate or deeper peeling action according to the condition of the lesion. The downtime is minimal and such laser treatments are quick. If a person has large sized spots and lesions in many places, this technique is appropriate. Recovery times are as short as a single day.
Dermosonic
This is one of the other treatments offered at Ojas Rejuvenation Center. It is a non-invasive treatment, which reduces cellulite. It improves circulation, relieves aches and relaxes spasm of muscles. It is a non-surgical technique, which has been proven safe.
SmartLipo
This is also known as ‘lunchtime lipo’ and compared to conventional liposuction has lower downtime and side effects. All that is needed is a local anesthesia for the procedure. A very small tube or cannula is used to eliminate fatty cells and facilitate drainage of these cells. However, SmartLipo is advisable only for small fat quantities.
Pigmented Lesions
These are also known as brown spots, lentigenes or solar lentigos and are most commonly caused from sunrays and environmental pollution. These are characterized by brown marks on the skin. At our therapeutic Rejuvenation Center in Palm Beach, we use gentle flashes of intense light on the affected area. After every 3 seconds this light energy is passed in quick succession over the brown spots. The melanin-affected area absorbs this light energy and soon coagulates to slough off on its own through the natural shedding process of the skin. For those individuals with sensitive skin, we apply a 4% anesthetic gel, an hour prior to treatment. According to the kind of and depth of the skin lesion, typically one or three treatments are needed. If the patient desires a permanent elimination of such lesions then more number of treatments maybe needed. Almost all parts of the body can be successfully treated with our laser treatments in South Florida. Our clinicians advise post treatment care after the session.
Acne Photo Clearance
30% of Americans aged between 15 and 44 years of age suffer from acne lesions. Most treatments available are expensive and not effective in permanently removing acne. Our NannoLight treatment involves using gentle flashes of intense light, which is passed in quick succession every 3 seconds on affected areas. The light energy initiates a photo thermal reaction inside Porphtrin molecules, which contain the P. acnes bacterium. The greenish-yellow light energy eliminates bacteria, alongside a red light that is used as an anti-inflammatory agent. Different types of acne are targeted and treated with the different light bandwidths. The downtime is much less and allows patients to resume normal activities instantly after the treatment. In a succession of 8 sessions, our Rejuvenation Center can alleviate acne as much as 90%.
Spider Vein, Broken Capillary and Rosacea
Various factors such as exposure to the sun, genetic reasons as well as age can cause damage in skin capillaries. The broken capillaries result in a reddishness of skin called ‘erythema’. It is an offshoot of the Rosacea condition. At our state of the art laser treatment spa, we pass gentle flashes of intense light on affected areas in quick succession. The blood absorbs the light energy and the blood vessels collapse. These vessels are then reabsorbed by the body and eliminated naturally. According to the type and depth of the lesion, an approximate of 2 to 4 treatments maybe needed. There is zero recovery time and the only side effect is a a small amount of bruising called ‘purpura’. However, this is a superficial condition and disappears in 3 or 4 days.
Permanent Hair Removal
At Ojas Med Spa we use pulsed light treatments to eliminate hair completely and safely. Light energy is passed in quick succession every 3 seconds till the hair has absorbed it sufficiently. This pigment gets converted to heat and disables the follicle permanently. The hair bulb is coagulated and eliminated naturally. For individuals with sensitive skin, an anesthetic gel maybe applied one-hour prior treatment. Good results are acheived with this laser treatment, when the hair has a good amount of brown or black pigment. Every session disables 20% of the hair section targeted and a minimum of 5 sessions are needed for long-term benefits. All body parts can be treated.
Skin Resurfacing
There are two methods we follow for skin resurfacing:
- Using pulsed light to achieve photo rejuvenation
- Laser Peel 3G
Photo rejuvenation is a non-ablative form of resurfacing, whereby we correct and prevent skin damage. Various factors contributing to skin damage such as; aging, sun damage, pollution and genetics can affect skin quality. Compared to glycolic peels or laser treatments, photo rejuvenation is milder and is administered over several sessions. Various skin irregularities such as photo damage, fine lines and wrinkles can be corrected with photo rejuvenation. Gentle flashes of intense light are quickly passed every 3 seconds on affected areas until the chromospheres absorb sufficient light energy. The chromospheres get heated up and slough away as part of the natural skin cycle. For sensitive skin types, anesthetic gel maybe applied an hour before treatment. One side effect is called ‘purpura’, which is very superficial and lasts only 3 or 4 days.
In Laser Peel 3G treatment, our rejuvenation center specialists use a modified erbium laser. This is an alternative to conventional microdermabrasion, photo peels and chemical peels. Using laser peel methods, the skin surface is vaporized in specific layers at controlled depths. As per the effect wanted and personal comfort level of the individual, our highly experienced clinicians at our spa will administer the treatment. The result is a smoother, more supple looking skin, which looks younger. Topical or local anesthesia maybe administered depending on the condition. Recovery times are short and the individual can resume normal activities the very next day. Several sessions of this treatment maybe needed and as many as 4 treatments in a month are needed to see positive effects. However, results are long-term and post treatment advice is given by our clinicians.
